Nightmares on Wax

Simply put Nightmares on Wax are the chillout band
Just take a listen to these

"YOU WISH"

"FLIP YA LID"
"THE SWEETEST"

PRETTY LIGHTS "FINALLY MOVING" (You Wish Sampled)

Covers #1

This entry highlights the variety of excellent covers around which can completely transform songs into a totally different genre.

First up is Willie Nelson's excellent cover of Coldplays' "The Scientist"

Hauntingly Beautiful

Next up is Ellie Gouldings cover of The Knife's "Heartbeats" which I am sure almost everyone has heard, here it is remixed by Cosmonaut Grechko and is quite excellent

Finally, My personal favourite "Higher Love" by James Vincent McMorrow . It is a chilling cover of a very 80's themed song by Steve Winwood. The contrast in the two is mind blowing and I hope you enjoy them

Moon Safari

Moon Safari is an album released by the band Air. It features excellent chill-out songs as well as funky beats which ensures plenty of people have at least one of their songs hidden somewhere on their Ipod.

Here is a remix of La Femme d'Argent

Air - La Femme d'Argent (Pyramid Remix)

A Cafe del Mare Song?

Some songs bring me back to my time spent in Ibiza with a few of my mates. It was the fourth or fifth day in and we had pushed our bodies beyond a limit we did not think possible. We couldn't stay locked up in a hotel for the night so we decided to take it slow and went down to Cafe del Mare where a delicious cocktail and some savory tunes allowed us to re-cooperate if not only for a short time before the carnage began again. A great holiday I will never forget even the bits I wish I could.

A.N.D.Y. & Vicente - El Barrio

The Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver Remix

Summer Chill

I present to you

Re-Editing a Re-Edit

James Blake came to prominence with the release of his solo album. His cover of Feists song "Limit to Your Love" was hailed by many as a masterpiece and an insight into how music will be made in the future.

His song has been remixed and re-edited by many but my personal favourite is by a small time English DJ, Daniel Bortz, who has had a few gigs in Ibiza. Its simply a more upbeat version of James' and really quite soothing.

Vocals over Synths

The title is in reference to this song which uses a light high pitched voice over synthy beats and works wonderfully well throughout

Enjoy

Booka Shade

Booka Shade were a band I did not enjoy when I heard them first in my first year in college, I find their more heavy beats a bit of an ear sore, however that isn't to say their are some absolute gems within their discography.

My personal favorite of theirs is Sweet Lies.
A simple song well executed through deep bass synth's which really allow you to close your eyes to and just listen to the music produced

This song brought me onto others which are similar in style such as In White Rooms and NightFalls. The latter providing an excellent backing to Tom Petty's I Wont Back Down

The song I am here to bring mostly to your attention is the rarely heard or mentioned This is Not the Time off their most recent album MORE!

Sharpe Songs

Here is a very different song to the first I posted. It is by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's who you may know through the song Home.
This is a song called Man on Fire and it has the same relaxed flow as his previous song and really provides no doubt of the vocal abilities within this band.

A Johnny Cash-esque melody

Hope you enjoy

Introduction

This blog is set up for the sole reason of publishing songs I enjoy and I think others will too. The title DreamySleepy is a reference to Fr.Ted, but incorporates the main theme of the music which will be published here : Chill-out, Lounge and in general relaxing music to fall asleep to.

The first song is fitting

Lullaby by JJ Grey and Mofro

More Songs will follow,
If you don't enjoy this give other ones a chance no one song will be alike
